Creating Felted Textiles
- The wool tops
- Laying out the layers of wool tops on netting and bubble wrap.
- The decorative inlays, yarns and surface wool tops are laid.
- Once the pre felt is prepared and surface decoration complete, soap & water are added. It is then wrapped in the netting & bubble wrap.
- Detail of stage 4
- The pre felt is then rolled to felt the fibres together.
The final image shows the completed felt.
This whole process can take between 2 - 6 hours, and even several days depending on the type of wool used and size of the felt!
