Emma will be offering two textile courses at the newly refurbished Midlands Arts Centre, Edgbaston, Birmingham from 9th June 2010. Initally the courses will run for six weeks, expanding to 10-12 week programmes from September 2010.
Paper, Fabric, Stitch
Wednesday 10am-12midday
'Explore the process of creating unique designs from primary sources to create experimental texile work using paper, fabric & stitch. A practical exploration of surface design, introducing block & screen printing and machine embroidery with surface design exercises to develop your creative language.'
Constructed Textiles
Wednesday 1-3pm
'Push the boundaries of textiles, paper and stitich to construct tactile surfaces with an emphasis on raising the surface and introducing 3D elements. You will be encouraged to work with batik, collage, silk papermaking and print to create experimental finished peices.'
