Textile Workshops this Summer: Batik, Screenprinting & Felting

Emma will be teaching four one day workshops this summer at the newly refurbished Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham.

Expressive Screenprinting
Saturday 31st July 2010 10.00-4.00pm
Explore the process of creating screenprint designs, fusing stencils, direct free form drawing and mono printing techniques to create your own unique expressive textiles. Bring along any design source materials or images to inspire your designs and let the creative magic unfold.

Felt to Dye For
Sunday 1 August 2010 10.00 - 4.00pm
Create a highly textured felt journal jacket to 'dye for'. Combining a variety of white wool, fibres and fabrics you will dye to reveal and highlight your creation. The journals can be further stitched and embellished to create a truly original piece.

Batik: Paper, Fabric & Wax!
Saturday 7th August 10.00 - 4.00pm
On this day long course you will experiment with a range of batik techniques, building layers of wax and dyes to construct decorative textile pieces. Working with paper and fabric, try out new techniques to make your own, unique textured surfaces.

Sculptural Vessels
Sunday 10.00 - 4.00pm
Using natural wool and silk fibres learn how to create 3D sculpted structures and textured surfaces. These fabulous textured felt and silk vessels can then be adorned with stitch or other decorative embellishments.

All welcome. Costs: £25 (£22 concs). Contact the Midlands Art Centre on 0121 4463232 or book online www.macarts.co.uk
