Enjoy making a bag with a beautifully textured surface using natural fibres and fabrics. Combining wool, cotton or silks you will be shown how to use the nuno felting techniques to construct a seamless felted wool bag withor without integrated resist patterning within the surface.

During the workshop you will learn how to -

  • Design and make your bag
  • Made a resist pattern from a template to form your seamless bag
  • Create surface pattern and texture by using resist shapes and fabrics
  • Make seamless 3d felt
  • Incorporate fabric texture using Nuno technique

This is a great day to expand your felt making skills - suitable for those with felt making experience and looking to expand their felting knowledge, as groups are kept small. The bag shape you make will vary depending on attendees expereince and design ideas. Once you have learnt the nuno and 3d resist skills you will be able to begin applying them to future projects, for instance cushions, purses and vessels.  You are welcome to bring along your own fabrics & yarns to decorate your bags surface or make use of thse we have.

A most enjoyable day! Emma’s studio was warm and welcoming and was a lovely space in which to work. Emma was an excellent tutor, explaining each stage of the feltmaking process clearly and answering any questions that arose along the way. She provided a fantastic array of materials and taught us techniques for using them to best advantage .
