When the days are chillier, why not join this fun half day workshop? You will learn how to make a pair of hand felted wool wrist warmers or a pair of fingerless gloves to keep you warm this winter.

Choosing colours of your choice, you will learn how to work with a resist pattern, lay out the wool fibres and fuse them together with just soap, water and elbow grease. You can use a selection of fibres, yarns and fabrics to add further surface decoration to your felt to personalise your gloves with your own unique design.

Your tutor will be Emma Jackson, a felt maker with over twenty five+years experience teaching, designing & making felt for her award winning textiles company, Silversoles. The workshop will take place in her home studio in South Birmingham with a small group. Please note: the studio is situated at the bottom of a garden with one step up to access the building.

The workshop starts at 10am and runs until 2/2:30pm, (please arrive at 9:45 for a 10am start). Please get in touch if you would like further information. We aim to finish at 2pm but have a half hour built in to allow for additional time in case you need it to complete your project.

Do I need to be able to felt to attend this workshop?

Beginners are welcome. Some basic knowledge of felt making and having completed a basic Introduction to Feltmaking workshop before embarking on this workshop wuld be usef but not essential.

What is provided in the workshop?

All felting materials and equipment are provided. Illustrated handouts notes are offered to enable you to continue to practice what you learn during the workshop. I suggest you bring along a camera /camera phone to help your record the your work during the workshop.

Do I need to bring anything?

All the materials required for this workshop are supplied, however, if you have a stash of yarns, silk or cotton fabrics you would like to use, (and lets face it which of us that love textiles doesn’t?), please bring them along to incorporate into your bag.

Bring a pack lunch. Light refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements so we can accommodate your needs.

Wear old clothes and comfortable footwear and bring along an apron.

We have a selection of water resistant aprons for your use, but if you have an apron you may wish to bring it to protect your clothing.

This workshop will take place in my studio.

Workshop Access
The studio is based at the end of my garden and accessed via a narrow side path and by crossing grass and hard standing areas. There is a small step up into the studio.

What’s the refund policy?

Should you need to cancel your place on a workshop for any reason the following will apply. Cancellation 28+ days prior to the workshop, a 50% refund or substitute workshop are offered. Cancellations less than 28 days prior to the course, there are no refunds.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a workshop, then a full refund or replacement workshop will be offered.

Workshop Handouts & Designs

All workshop handout notes and designs provided are for private personal use only. Please respect the artist’s intellectual and creative rights and do not copy the notes / designs for publication, teaching or commercial gain.

Photography & Recordings

While we encourage you to bring a camera to record your work in progres, when taking photographs, please only record your work. We ask that you respect others work and privacy, and seek permission to photograph their work. Please do not take offensive if permission is refused. We politely ask that film recordings are not made during the workshop.
