A fabulous opportunity to advance your felting knowledge by learning how to make sumptuously textured surfaces.
During the Nuno Sampling day you will learn how to fuse the traditional technique of wet felting with the contemporary nuno process. By combining wool fibres with a selection of fabrics, we will explore how different fabrics and the way they are laid out, interact with wool to felt creating a myriad of patterns and textures.
We will make a series of samples pieces for your to take away for use as reference to aid your feltmaking, helping you plan and design beautiful nuno fabrics for future projects.
During the day you will select the colour(s) and fabrics you wish to work with to
- Gain an understanding of how and why wool fibres adhere to fabric,
- Observe how different textured effects are possible using a variety of different weights and types of fabric and wool, and apply this knowledge to make your own samplers using fabrics such as silk chiffon, habotai, linen, cotton, devore and more.
Nuno Scarf: Make a weekend of it and book an additional day on 18th May, to make a scarf. This will give you the opportunity to put into practice the skills you learnt on Day One and make your own uniquely designed Nuno Scarf. You will dye your fabric, design & create your scarf design with Emma's guidance.
Workshops runs from 10:00- 4.30pm with a break for lunch. You can bring your own pack lunch or Opt for a lunch included and have a lunch prepared for you.
